Software inventory is an integral part in the SCCM environment as it’s a dependency for other SCCM features. But running an inventory can be tedious job as the scanning can take place a fair amount of time if you are performing scans on complete drives in a computer. This can sometime cause unnecessary performance issues as well. So in-order to by-pass this scanning for known file or folder we can do a trick by placing a dump file in such location. The dump file should be named as Skpswi.dat this file need not be visible to users as it has got nothing to do with users.
The usage of this file is quite simple as we can place this file in any route folder which you would like to exclude in your computer. Such as – C:\Windows even you can place this file inside a drive to completely skip that drive from inventory.
